“Digimon: Source Code” the upcoming mobile RPG by Bandai Namco Entertainment has recently revealed its gameplay at ChinaJoy 2023. The game features creatures from the Digimon universe with turn-based gameplay.
“Digimon: Source Code” aims to capitalize on the popular Digimon IP. Since 1997, Digimon has become a beloved franchise, spanning anime series, movies, video games, and trading card games. Digimon Adventure holds a special place in the hearts of many 90s and early 2000s kids.
“Digimon: Source Code” was announced for a closed beta test in China two years ago. The gameplay was revealed at ChinaJoy 2023. The game’s core mechanics are turn-based with an emphasis on speed. Each turn, all units take action. Players control their Digimon with various moves, including basic attacks, evasions, and special attacks requiring energy. Strategic team building and synergy between Digimon trigger powerful team attacks, reminiscent of iconic anime moments.

Players can fuse and Digivolve Digimon into final forms, including Omnimon. “Digimon: Source Code” features over 300 Digimon upon launch, including favorites like Omegamon and Alphamon. ChinaJoy 2023 offered an exciting preview, showcasing two levels. The demo featured Digimon like WarGreymon, Metal Garurumon, and Metal Seadramon, demonstrating abilities, combos, and team-based fusion mechanics.
Right now, “Digimon: Source Code” is exclusively available in China and will launch on iOS and Android platforms. Global launch details remain undisclosed but knowing that it’s from Bandai Namco, the game will definitely launch worldwide in the near future.
