Developer Joyful Calamity is gearing up to release a unique horror adventure titled The Way Home, launching on October 30 for PC and consoles. In it, you play as a cat who can perceive supernatural phenomena, exploring haunted locations to rescue your owner’s soul.

In the game, your feline protagonist will roam through lonely Tokyo residences where tragic deaths occurred, facing ghosts and specters. Many of these entities can be exorcised simply by “staring” at them continuously—but some are hostile and will attack. To defend yourself, you also possess claws, and there’s an interesting “claw gauge” mechanic: you restore claw energy by interacting with damaged walls or cardboard scattered throughout maps.

Exploration is key: you can “sniff” out anomalies to track supernatural traces, guiding you deeper into the house’s mysteries. The atmosphere promises a blending of the mundane and the uncanny, with the tension of confronting ghostly presence as a vulnerable cat.

For updates, gameplay reveals, and more lore, keep an eye on Joyful Calamity’s official social media, where the team continues to tease new footage and features.
