Guinness World Record Names Jujutsu Kaisen As Most Popular Anime

Guinness World Records has certified Jujutsu Kaisen as the “most in-demand animated TV show,” also calling it the “world’s most popular anime.” This overtakes Attack on Titan, which held the record since 2020.

The decision was based on data from Parrot Analytics, a data science firm. Jujutsu Kaisen’s “global demand rating” was 71.2 times greater than the average television series. Parrot Analytics calculates “demand” based on billions of data points, such as video consumption, social media engagement, and research actions.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s two-cours second season propelled it to the top spot, surpassing One Piece and Attack on Titan. The peak demand for Jujutsu Kaisen reached 128 times the demand of an average show. It had a higher percentage of Gen Z viewers with 71.3%, compared to One Piece (56.7%) and Attack on Titan (64.4%).

Attack on Titan still holds the record for the “largest comic book published,” thanks to the manga’s large-sized graphic novel printing. One Piece holds the record for “most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author.”

Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season premiered last July and aired for two cours. The anime will get a sequel adapting the manga’s “Culling Game” arc.
