Avatar: Reckoning, the open-world third-person shooter MMORPG by Tencent and Level Infinite will now be published by Archosaur Games with a set release date sometime in 2024.
Initially announced in January 2022, Avatar: Reckoning is set to launch a brand new Closed Beta Test in China in January 2024, followed by a global rollout in the first half of the same year. Closed beta tests in Canada and an exclusive trial for Android users in the Philippines have given a glimpse of the game’s potential.
In a shift, publishing duties moved from Tencent’s Level Infinite to Archosaur Games, backed by Disney and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment. The change of leading publisher was all amicable as Disney and James Cameron’s Lightroom Entertainment backed the decision. Archosaur Games is known for its mobile MMORPGs like Dragon Raja and Noah’s Heart.
Avatar: Reckoning dives players into Pandora, the Na’vi clan’s world, offering extensive customization for their Avatar, skills, and weaponry. It promises both PvE and PvP gameplay, tied closely to the original movie’s storyline.
The game garnered positive reviews during its testing phase and fans are hoping that it will meet expectations when it officially launches in 2024.
