Honkai: Star Rail, sequel to Honkai Impact begins Closed Beta Test today!

Just like its prominent interstellar train, Honkai: Star Rail is chugging through its development phase at high speed as now, MiHoYo has announced that the sequel to Honkai Impact 3rd is starting its Closed Beta testing phase today (October 27)!

A few weeks ago, the MiHoYo fanbase blew up (along with a good portion of the gaming community) when leaks were posted about a game that was touted as the sequel to the popular RPG game, Honkai Impact 3rd. It didn’t take too long for the rumors to be confirmed as MiHoYo themselves announced Honkai: Star Rail just a few days after the leaks became mainstream.

Players will go on an intergalactic journey with the help of a space-faring train, hence the Star Rail on the game title. You’ll be forming a team consisting of 4 characters to explore the world beyond what you knew in Honkai Impact while combat will be your traditional JRPG turn-based combat. The graphics and character designs are off the roof, as expected from MiHoYo and recurring characters like a much older Bronya is a big treat for long-time fans.

The CBT will begin on October 27, 2021, with no end date announced, similar to what they did to Genshin Impact. Although the news is exciting for fans, there is one problem. Unfortunately, the test will only be available for players who are on PC or iOS. Android users will not be able to test or play the game just yet. Just like any other CBT, all data will be wiped clean once it is done.

Although not confirmed, Honkai: Star Rail might have 3 separate CBT phases since MiHoYo has been doing this for most of their games including Genshin. So it’s safe to say that the game will be slated around the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2022. That is if the development team will not encounter any hiccups.

Minimum required specs for Honkai: Star Rail:

  • PC – Windows 7, i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or better
  • iOS – Any device with an A12 chipset or better

Honkai: Star Rail is coming along very nicely. If you’ve seen the leaks, the game looks absolutely stunning with recurring characters to add that nostalgia factor, and at the same time, make you feel old. Add the fact that MiHoYo has been very meticulous about their games ever since Genshin Impact became a huge deal, we can expect great things from Honkai: Star Rail.
