Riot Games has been in this weird way of just casually doing game announcements recently and so far it’s been giving them very good results. It’s well known that they’re not the best company at keeping their future game titles a secret, something the gaming community jokes about in a good way, so maybe this is their way of accepting it and just go with the flow. Their recent announcement was delivered in the same way; casual. But it’s definitely big news. Even “massive”.
In a recent tweet from Riot VP, Greet Street, he talks about how he has been involved in helping to develop a “League Universe” and how his part in all this is to “kick off a big (some might say massive) game” that many LOL fans, and many Rioters, have been asking them to create.
And with no secret drop, no veiling of any information, no hinting of what’s to come, no clue to give, no nothing, he just casually confirms their new project with a simple answer. Need some context? Read the short Twitter exchange below.
He literally and just answered, “Yes, we are working on an MMORPG based on the world of League of Legends” just like that!
OK, to be fair this news isn’t really new. We already know that they are working on multiple games right now, even a LOL arcade-style fighting game, but this Tweet confirms it. We are getting an MMORPG based on Runeterra, the world where League of Legends takes place. That means, soon we can go on adventures and visit iconic league locations like the Kingdom of Demacia, the Twin city Piltover and Zaun, climb Mount Targon, check out the docks of Bildgewater, fight in the pits of Noxus, visit Ionia, Shurima, Bandle City, and even risk our souls in the Shadow Isles.
Of course, seeing that this project is still in development, we can’t say anything about the game in general. All we gotta do now is wait for more updates from Riot. A big announcement or just a casual one just like this, anything is welcome.
