“Monster Hunter Mobile” Announced By Capcom And Tencent’s TiMi Studio

Tencent’s in-house game developers, TiMi Studios are teaming up with Capcom to bring the iconic “Monster Hunter” game series to mobile. Confirmed as already in development, the upcoming mobile game title will reproduce the hunting actions that define the “Monster Hunter” games and offer players a new game experience unique to mobile devices and phones.

This is the first-time TiMi and Capcom have partnered up. They will combine the experiences and strengths of both sides, allowing “Monster Hunter” to scale to more platforms with an aim to give global hunters, whether they are experienced or new to the hunting world, the freedom to hunt as they desire, anytime and anywhere. Both party did not mention what genre it will be but since TiMi Studio is involved, it’s possible that the upcoming “Monster Hunter Mobile” game will be an MMORPG similar to NetEase Game’s “Errant: Hunter Soul,” which gamers would remember was a clone of “Monster Hunter” for Android and iOS. Just a reminder: The game has just been announced and is currently in development. Don’t expect it to come out soon.

About “Monster Hunter”

We doubt you’re unaware of the “Monster Hunter” series, but just in case, here’s a short recap. The “Monster Hunter” series consists of hunting action games that pit players against giant monsters in beautiful natural environments. The series established a new genre in which players cooperate to hunt with their friends and has since grown into one of Capcom’s most popular series, with worldwide sales exceeding 88 million units shipped as of September 30, 2022.

About TiMi Studio

TiMi Studio is a subsidiary of Tencent Games which was founded way back in 2008. TiMi has developed a string of hit titles including “Honor of Kings,” “Speed Drifters,” and “Arena of Valor.” TiMi is also a trusted partner to some of the biggest gaming brands in the world, creating AAA titles such as “Call of Duty: Mobile” and most recently “Pokémon UNITE.”

Long-time mobile gamers would remember that this isn’t the first time “Monster Hunter” came to mobile. They previously launched a top-down RPG game that had the basic features of “Monster Hunter’s” gaming mechanics. The game was actually pretty good, but Capcom made the huge mistake of releasing it in just one country, not giving it a chance to shine in other regions. And so it was shut down. Additionally, there are spin-off “Monster Hunter” games for mobile as well such as the “Monster Hunter Stories” series.
