ASUS ROG Ally Leaks Online, Features Ryzen Z1 Extreme Phoenix APU

ASUS has announced some exciting news for gamers eagerly awaiting the release of their upcoming handheld device, the ROG Ally console. According to ASUS, this innovative console will feature a custom version of AMD Ryzen CPU with the best performance in its class, providing gamers with an exceptional gaming experience.

It has been speculated for some time that the Ryzen APU in the ROG Ally console would use Phoenix silicon with Zen4 and RDNA3 architectures. The latest leak appears to confirm these speculations, with the Z1 Extreme being a name for the Ryzen 7 7840U variant designed specifically for the ROG Ally. This APU boasts impressive specifications, including 8 cores, 16 threads, a base clock of 3.3 GHz, and a boost up to 5.062 GHz.

The built-in graphics of the ROG Ally console feature 6 Compute Units, equivalent to 768 FP32 cores, with a max frequency likely to be higher than the 800 MHz listed in the leak. The console’s specs have already been leaked to some degree, with confirmation of the Z1 APU and memory specs of 16GB LPDDR5 and storage featuring PCIe Gen5 SSD with 0.5TB of capacity.
