Kafka is getting some pretty hot (or cold) competition as “Honkai: Star Rail” just officially revealed Jingliu as an upcoming playable character in the game! The character has been teased through various mediums before but more detailed info about her has yet to be divulged until now.
HoYoverse recently unveiled Jingliu’s character card, hinting at her role in “Honkai: Star Rail.” Going by the company’s update history, Jingliu is likely to debut in Version 1.4 as a five-star Ice Destruction character.
Now, for the lore. Jingliu was once a member of the High-Cloud Quintet, known as Transcendent Flash. Despite her status, she veered off to seek more power, leading to her removal from the Sword Champions records by Luofu. Jingliu also played a key role in Jing Yuan’s animated trailer and was featured in Yanqing’s Companion Mission.
Gameplay-wise, we currently have Yanqing as the lone Ice DPS character in Version 1.2. Jingliu is set to be the second. While other Ice characters lean towards support, Jingliu will bring some icy offense to the table. More about her skills will be revealed soon.
Voice acting is on point here. AmaLee will voice Jingliu in English, known for her singing on YouTube and roles like Lillie in “Pokemon Evolutions” and Marin Kitagawa in “My Dress-Up Darling.”
It’s funny to point out that AmaLee made the mistake of announcing her role in the game too early, effectively informing the fanbase that Jingliu is confirmed to be alive (Jing Yuan’s animated short made it seem that she perished by his hands) and will be playable to boot.
For the Japanese version, it’s Houko Kuwashima, known for Stellar in “Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny” and Sango in “Inuyasha.”
“Honkai: Star Rail” is available on mobile and Windows PC. Jingliu’s arrival is slated for Version 1.4. Get ready for a fresh chapter in the “Honkai: Star Rail” saga.
