Fntastic, the developer behind “The Day Before,” announced the studio’s closure a mere week after the game’s Early Access debut. The game received mostly negative reviews upon its release on December 7, prompting the sudden shutdown attributed to financial failure.
The Day Before was anticipated to thrive in Early Access for six to eight months. However, the studio lacked the funds to continue its development, leading to the unexpected closure. In their statement, Fntastic expressed their commitment and dedication to the game’s creation over five years but lamented the inability to sustain development without financial backing.
Fntastic emphasized that no public funds, pre-orders, or crowdfunding campaigns supported the game’s development. Despite their efforts, the closure not only casts doubt on The Day Before’s future but also raises uncertainty about Propnight, another project in their pipeline. Nevertheless, existing players can find solace in the assurance that game servers will remain operational.
