Horizon MMORPG For Mobile & PC Reportedly In Development

Reports suggest that a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based on Guerrilla’s Horizon franchise is in development. The game, potentially titled “Land of Salvation,” is expected to launch on both PC and mobile platforms, according to details uncovered by video game researcher Kurakasis.

Kurakasis shared insights from recent job listings, confirming the project’s existence. “The game is confirmed to be in development,” Kurakasis stated, pointing to a LinkedIn job listing by an NCSoft employee. The listing featured a codename logo reminiscent of the Horizon games, and the project was developed under the codename “Project Skyline,” with its initial codename being “Project H.”

Developed using Unreal Engine 5, the Horizon MMORPG is a significant undertaking, involving around 140 individuals as of September 2023. Sung-Gu Lee’s Lineage IP division is leading the project, headed by Hong-Young Choi, the former head of Lineage W development. The project reportedly began in 2021, according to a former NCSoft employee’s resume on LinkedIn and Facebook.

NCSoft had registered a domain for a game titled “Land of Salvation,” fueling speculation that this could be the official title for the upcoming Horizon MMO. Kurakasis acknowledged this, stating, “Of course, it could be some other project we are not aware of.”

The leak surfaced after Sony and Guild Wars publisher NCSoft announced a strategic partnership, emphasizing a move beyond consoles to broaden PlayStation’s reach. NCSoft head Taekjin Kim and Sony’s Jim Ryan signed this partnership, with a focus on collaboration in various global business fields, including mobile gaming. While specifics were not outlined, the companies expressed intent to explore potential opportunities, combining NCSoft’s technological prowess with Sony’s global leadership in entertainment.

Neither party explicitly referred to the Horizon MMO, but the report aligns with a previous year’s rumor indicating that an MMO set in Sony’s Horizon IP was in development at NCSoft.
