“Tougen Anki” Manga Set For An Anime Adaptation In 2025

Fans of Yura Urushibara’s popular manga “Tougen Anki: Dark Demon of Paradise” have reason to celebrate, as distribution company REMOW confirmed that the series will be adapted into a television anime premiering in 2025. The announcement was made on Tuesday, accompanied by the release of a thrilling trailer, a stunning key visual, and details about the main cast.

The anime adaptation will feature Kazuki Ura voicing the protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, who is thrust into a chaotic world after discovering his heritage as an Oni. His life changes drastically following an attack by a “Momotaro,” a figure from Japanese folklore traditionally seen as a hero, which leads him to uncover the secrets of his lineage. Shiki’s journey continues at Rasetsu Academy, a school specializing in training Oni where he meets a variety of characters.

The backstory of “Tougen Anki” delves into a longstanding conflict between the Oni, who once lived secluded due to their ferocious nature, and the Momotaro, who have historically been their adversaries. This narrative explores themes of identity, legacy, and the internal battles that come with inheriting such a profound and tumultuous history.

Yura Urushibara first launched the manga in Akita Publishing’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in June 2020, and it has quickly become a favorite among readers. With 19 volumes already published and the 20th volume set to release soon, the series has also been slated for an English release by Yen Press starting September 17.
