Blue Protocol Shutting Down After Brief Run

Blue Protocol, once a promising title that brought a fresh perspective to the action RPG genre, is officially closing down. Bandai Namco Online announced that the game would shut its servers on January 18, 2025, just 1 year and 7 months after its initial release in Japan in June 2023. Despite high expectations, the game struggled to meet the demands of gamers both in Japan and globally, leading to its early demise.

The developers cited their inability to fully realize the game’s potential and the ongoing dissatisfaction among players as key reasons for the closure. Blue Protocol faced numerous challenges, including a region lock that alienated international players and lukewarm reception from its Japanese audience. These issues, combined with financial losses, made it difficult for Bandai Namco to justify keeping the game running.

In light of the Japan version’s closure, Amazon Games also confirmed the cancellation of the global version, which had already faced delays and lack of updates. As the game prepares to shut down, the developers will continue to release storyline updates until the servers officially go offline.
