Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed to February 2025

Ubisoft announced that the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been postponed to February 14, 2025, from its initial November 15, 2024, launch date. The delay follows lower-than-expected performance from Star Wars Outlaws, which released in August.

Ubisoft stated that the decision allows additional time to polish the game, particularly due to insights gained from the Star Wars Outlaws launch. Although the game is feature complete, the company wants to ensure the new dual-protagonist feature with characters Naoe and Yasuke is fully realized.

Additionally, Ubisoft revealed Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on Steam at launch and will not follow the traditional Season Pass model. Players who pre-order will receive the first expansion for free.

In light of Star Wars Outlaws’ underperformance, Ubisoft’s development teams are focusing on updates to boost the game’s holiday sales and long-term success. Meanwhile, Ubisoft revised its financial outlook for the fiscal year, reducing net bookings to €1.95 billion and adjusting its second-quarter forecast to €350-370 million.

CEO Yves Guillemot acknowledged the company’s challenges and reiterated a commitment to improving performance through a player-centric approach. Star Wars Outlaws will release on Steam on November 21, 2024.
