Call of Duty Warzone Mobile Requires Higher-Spec Devices Following New Update

Activision Publishing, Inc. recently announced that the minimum device requirements for COD Warzone Mobile will be raised to support new features and technical improvements. This update, effective November 14, 2024, introduces higher performance standards that will limit compatibility on certain older devices.

Key Changes in the Warzone Mobile Update

The minimum device requirement update is part of Activision’s efforts to enhance the game’s performance and integrate new features like the Omnimovement system, designed for more dynamic player control. Alongside graphical enhancements and quality-of-life improvements, the update aims to prepare Warzone Mobile for future integrations with other Call of Duty franchise games, including Black Ops 6.

New System Requirements for iOS and Android Users

The updated specifications mean that Warzone Mobile will now require iOS 17 or higher for iPhone users and Android 13 or higher for Android users. Both platforms also demand support for bindless texturing, which excludes specific GPUs from compatibility, including:

  • Mali-G76 MC4, Mali-G52, Mali-G71, Mali-G51
  • Adreno 610, Adreno 613, Adreno 612, Adreno 615, among others

Devices without these compatible GPUs will not run Warzone Mobile following the November 14 update.

Compensation for Incompatible Devices

Players with devices that no longer meet the requirements will be able to continue playing Warzone Mobile until May 5, 2025, provided they installed the game before November 14, 2024. Additionally, affected users are eligible for compensation in Call of Duty: Mobile as a gesture of goodwill from the developers.

Why Warzone Mobile is Increasing Requirements

According to the developers, raising minimum device requirements is essential to ensure a high-quality gaming experience as they introduce new gameplay elements and share features across the Call of Duty ecosystem. By focusing on higher-spec devices, Activision aims to deliver consistent and immersive gameplay without sacrificing performance.
