Final Fantasy XIV Mobile Announced For Android and iOS

Square Enix and Tencent Games’ LightSpeed Studios have officially announced Final Fantasy XIV Mobile, bringing the critically acclaimed MMORPG to mobile platforms. The game, developed in close collaboration with Naoki Yoshida—the producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn—is set to deliver an authentic Eorzean experience optimized for smartphones. Multiple playtests will begin in China, with a global release planned shortly thereafter.

Bringing Eorzea to Mobile

Final Fantasy XIV Mobile aims to faithfully recreate the grandeur of the original game on mobile devices. According to Yoshida, the title will serve as a “sister game” to Final Fantasy XIV, capturing its immersive story and dynamic combat while also integrating non-combat systems like crafting and gathering.

Features to Anticipate

  • Dynamic Combat: The mobile version features combat mechanics adapted for touchscreen controls, enabling players to engage in intense battles anywhere.
  • Diverse Playable Races and Jobs: Players can select from multiple races and switch between nine jobs at launch using the iconic Armoury system.
  • Non-Combat Activities: The game includes activities such as Triple Triad, Chocobo Racing, and crafting with 11 distinct crafting and gathering classes.
  • Social Interactions: Like its PC and console counterpart, the mobile version emphasizes a welcoming community where players can connect, whether through cooperative gameplay or casual chats.

A Seamless Mobile Experience

With enhanced visuals and an interface tailored for mobile devices, Final Fantasy XIV Mobile seeks to deliver the essence of Eorzea while offering a convenient, portable gaming experience.

The developers have also ensured that beloved elements like Eorzea’s vibrant music, iconic locations, and expansive lore remain central to the mobile adaptation.

LightSpeed Studios and Square Enix will roll out regional playtests in China soon. Following feedback and optimization, a global launch will follow. For more information, visit the game’s official website.
