Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled a new mobile application designed to help parents manage their children’s gaming activity on PlayStation consoles. The PlayStation Family app, announced via the official PlayStation Blog by Cory Gasaway, VP of Product Management at SIE, is now rolling out globally on iOS and Android devices.
Building on existing parental control tools on the PS5 and PS4, the PlayStation Family app offers an easier, more streamlined way for parents to oversee and customize their children’s gaming experiences, from setting playtime limits to approving purchases, directly from their mobile devices.

Features Designed for Safer, Smarter Play
According to Gasaway, the PlayStation Family app introduces a range of new and improved features aimed at giving parents more visibility and control:
- Guided Onboarding – A step-by-step process to quickly set up child accounts.
- Real-Time Notifications – Alerts when a child starts a new game, plus the ability to approve or decline requests for more playtime or access to restricted games.
- Activity Reports – Easy-to-read daily and weekly summaries of playtime and gaming activity.
- Manage Playtime – Set daily playtime limits, and approve or deny additional playtime requests directly from the app.
- Manage Spending – Add funds, monitor balances, and set monthly spending caps for PlayStation Store purchases.
- Content Filters – Apply preset age-based restrictions or fully customize content settings for each child.
- Social Interactions – Control how children connect and interact with other players online.
Available Now Worldwide
The PlayStation Family app is available starting today on the App Store and Google Play in most markets. Sony notes that the app will continue to evolve with new enhancements planned in future updates.
