KOEI TECMO America and developer Team NINJA shocked fans today by unveiling the first teaser trailer for the return of one of their most iconic survival horror games: FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE. Scheduled for release in early 2026, the game is currently in development for PlayStation®5, Nintendo Switch™ 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam®.
In FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE, twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura find themselves trapped in a mysterious village erased from history. Pursued by vengeful spirits, the sisters must navigate cursed rituals, haunted ruins, and the oppressive night that never ends. Separated from her sister, Mio wields the legendary Camera Obscura, a mystical device capable of capturing and sealing restless ghosts. Each photo taken draws her closer to the truth of the forbidden ritual—a chilling secret that must never be witnessed.
Players will experience enhanced graphics, reimagined audio, and refined gameplay systems that heighten both the atmosphere and intensity of exploration and combat.
