Imagine being confronted by your Steam library. That’s precisely the crazy idea behind Game Quest: The Backlog Battler. Your neglected game purchases turn into enemies in this hack-and-slash game in the vein of an arcade. The harder a title hits, the more you paid for it.

Fight Your Games in the Arena of Shame
Games you have never played appear as powerful bosses in Backlog Battler. Games that you tried for a few hours come at you in waves. DLCs, high scores, platform support, and other things are represented by special enemies. A ring of your “played” games surrounds you as you fight, and the unplayed ones tower over you.
Players must make their game library public in order for the system to know what they own in order to maximize the experience. You can return to the privacy settings after the data loads.

Mechanics, Art, and Comedy
This game, which was created and released by Nic Taylor, combines humor with self-aware gameplay. The quirky idea is made more palatable by the stylized graphics, straightforward controls, and lighthearted jabs about your backlog.
As you advance, anticipate roguelike features such as permadeath threats, random upgrades, and increasing difficulty.

Future Plans & Availability
Game Quest is expected to launch (or be available in early access) in 2025 or 2026. As of right now, no official launch date has been announced, and it is being tracked on Steam under wishlist status.
This game might be just what you need if you have a guilt-ridden backlog. Wishlist the game now through Steam!
