The state’s lawyer, James Uthmeier, called the platform a “breeding ground for predators” that allegedly endangers children. To obtain information about suspected victims and predatory activity on the site, the company has been served with a criminal subpoena.
Long-standing Safety Concerns Draw Attention
This is not a stand-alone investigation. Roblox’s ability to protect younger users has come under more scrutiny. Previous reports raised concerns about the platform’s alleged inability to shield children from exploitative and harmful content. Lawsuits have even been filed by states like Louisiana, which allege the platform was “overrun with harmful content and child predators.”
Roblox’s Response
Roblox Corporation reaffirmed its dedication to user safety in response to the most recent investigation, claiming that it is developing age estimation systems for users gaining access to chat features and that it employs filters to prevent the exchange of personal information. The business added that although no system is flawless, they employ both automated tools and skilled teams to identify potentially dangerous content.
