A new free to play open world RPG called Dark Craft is coming to Steam, from developer Take Top Entertainment. The game is being hailed as the “first MMORPG Soulslike” and features a unique combination of elements from popular games like Elden Ring, Minecraft, and the tabletop classic Dungeons and Dragons.

Core Gameplay and World
Dark Craft is set in a grim, dark fantasy world that emphasizes environmental storytelling. The game promises a massive open world filled with secrets and dangers, designed to keep players in constant tension. The game supports co op gameplay, but can also be played solo.

Elden Ring and Minecraft Influences
The combat in Dark Craft is directly inspired by Soulslike titles like Elden Ring, requiring players to master timing, stamina management, and understanding enemy telegraphs. Every encounter, whether against a non player character or another player, is described as a deadly clash in a world that “does not forgive mistakes.” The visuals, however, adopt a unique blocky presentation similar to Minecraft, which the developers feel adds to the dark fantasy world building instead of detracting from it.

The Unique D&D Game Master System
The most distinguishing feature of Dark Craft is its Game Master system. Members of the development team can directly intervene in the gameplay in real time, similar to a Dungeon Master in Dungeons and Dragons. They can:
- Directly control enemy patrols and set up ambushes.
- Appear as powerful world bosses.
- Grant unique, one of a kind quests to players.
- Trigger special events.
This feature is designed to maintain the tension of a Soulslike experience while offering dynamic, unpredictable storytelling.
There is currently no release date for Dark Craft. For now, you can wishlist the game through its Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3973300/Dark_Craft/
