Resident Evil Requiem Combat Footage Revealed

After months of focusing on the survival horror elements, Resident Evil Requiem finally showcased its first combat gameplay footage. However, the short clip did not confirm the long-awaited presence of fan favorite Leon S. Kennedy.

First Look at Action Gameplay

The combat footage was shown during a special program in Japan and later circulated online. The clip features the game’s known protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, navigating a new area and engaging multiple zombies with a handgun. These third person sequences are highly reminiscent of the classic Resident Evil 4. An insider noted that since the footage aired on Japanese television, it was captured from a censored version, meaning the international release should feature the usual level of blood and gore.

Leon Kennedy Speculation Continues

Despite the debut of combat footage, Leon Kennedy, a central figure in the Resident Evil series, was not seen in action. Many fans had speculated that he would be the focus of the game’s combat mechanics, and the lack of a reveal alongside this footage is making the window for confirmation tighter. Game producer Masato Kumazawa has previously addressed the rumors without outright denying them, leaving a small chance that Leon will be introduced as the second protagonist alongside Grace.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch.
