The year ahead looks incredibly great with the number of anime shows and films we fans are getting. There’s Witch Hat Atelier, Dr. STONE SCIENCE FUTURE Part 3, Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2, and so many more that I’m personally expecting.

This coming January alone, we’re going to be filled with up-and-coming anime series and, of course, the anticipated return of many fan favorites. It’s a month brimming with excitement that will surely make up for that empty feeling once the fall anime season comes to an end.

1. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Part 1

Release Date: Jan. 8, 2026

Studio: MAPPA

Yuji Itadori and his allies find themselves ensnared in the Culling Game as they rescue Tsumiki Fushiguro and save humanity in the third season of Gege Akutami’s immensely popular supernatural action series. This follows the Shibuya Incident as told in the recent movie, Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution.

2. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2

Release Date: Jan. 16, 2026

Frieren, Fern, and Stark return, and the journey to know more about humans continues. What awaits are gripping battles, endless side quests, philosophies, and more complex characters in this cozy high fantasy series that redefined the genre since its release.

3. Medalist Season 2

Release Date: Jan. 24, 2026

Studio: ENGI

After advancing to the Novice class, Inori Yuitsuka faces elite rivals and greater challenges with her coach Tsukasa Akeuraji in the second season of Japan’s best figure skating anime after Yuri!!! on Ice.

4. Oshi no Ko Season 3

Ruby Hoshino’s fame is on the rise, and so is the revived B-Komachi idol group, all thanks to her dishonest methods to find the culprit behind Ai Hoshino and Gorou Amamiya’s deaths.

5. Golden Kamuy Final Chapter

7. Fire Force Season 3 Part 2
