Granblue Fantasy Heads to Steam for Global Audience

Twelve years after its initial debut in Japan, the popular JRPG Granblue Fantasy is finally coming to Steam for a global audience. During the Granblue Fantasy Fes 2025 livestream, Cygames announced that the title is in development for PC with a target release date of March 10, 2026. While an English language patch has existed since 2016, this official Steam version marks the first time the game has been specifically packaged and launched for Western platforms. This release aims to bring the rich lore and turn-based combat of the Sky Realms to a wider group of international players.

Widescreen Layout and Modern Features

The Steam version of Granblue Fantasy is not a simple port; it has been reworked into a 16:9 ratio layout to better suit modern monitors. This is a significant change from the vertical orientation used in the original mobile and browser versions. The game features the legendary work of composer Nobuo Uematsu and art director Hideo Minaba, both known for their contributions to the Final Fantasy series. Players can expect fully voiced story chapters, strategic co-op raids, and the classic character collection mechanics that have made the franchise a staple of the genre for over a decade.

Important Details for New Players

Prospective players should note that the Steam release will support both English and Japanese languages, though it will not be available for purchase in Japan. Additionally, Cygames has confirmed that players will not be able to link accounts or transfer data from existing mobile or browser versions to the Steam edition. Everyone joining via Steam will need to start a fresh adventure. Despite these restrictions, the global launch provides a streamlined way for fans of Granblue Fantasy: Relink and Versus: Rising to experience the original story that started the entire multimedia franchise.
