New Saw Video Game Adaptation in Development

Lionsgate has officially confirmed that the Saw franchise is returning to the world of video games. During a recent financial discussion, Adam Fogelson, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, revealed that the studio is actively pursuing new gaming opportunities for both John Wick and Saw. While specific details regarding the developer or gameplay mechanics have not yet been shared, the announcement suggests a major push to bring the iconic horror series to modern consoles. This news comes at a time when the film franchise is also seeing a resurgence, with a new installment currently in development by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster.

A Legacy of Survival Horror

The Saw franchise is no stranger to the gaming industry, having previously seen two dedicated adaptations. The original Saw: The Video Game launched in 2009, followed by Saw II: Flesh & Blood in 2010. Both titles were third person survival horror games that focused on the series’ signature puzzle solving and lethal traps. While those titles were released over a decade ago, Jigsaw’s presence has remained active in the gaming community through a major crossover in the popular multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight. This upcoming project marks the first standalone console entry for the series in many years.

High Expectations for Modern Hardware

With the advancement of gaming technology since the last standalone title, fans are hopeful for a highly immersive experience that captures the grim atmosphere of the films. Lionsgate’s mention of “AAA opportunities” indicates that this new project could have a significant budget and high production values. Whether it will be a narrative driven experience or a complex puzzle game remains to be seen. As Lionsgate prepares to share more official news, horror fans are eager to see how Jigsaw will test players on the latest generation of hardware.
