Tencent’s Pokémon-like Game, Kewlbiverse, Quietly Shuts Down

Tencent Games’ ambitious open-world pet collector RPG, Kewlbiverse, appears to have been quietly shut down without any official announcement or farewell message to its community. Developed by AIDELWEISS, a subsidiary of Tencent, the game had initially generated significant excitement for its blend of exploration, base building, and creature collection. However, the official website for the game no longer loads, and its social media channels have remained inactive for several months. This lack of communication suggests that the project has been cancelled or indefinitely shelved rather than receiving a traditional end-of-service roadmap.

From Beta to Disappearance

The last major milestone for Kewlbiverse occurred in November 2024, when the team conducted its first closed beta test on Android in selected regions. The game promised a colorful world inhabited by over 100 unique creatures known as Faeby, featuring activities such as farming, social play, and tactical battles. Since that testing phase concluded, news regarding development progress completely dried up. While no official reason was given for the disappearance, industry analysts suggest that the game’s strong similarities to Pokémon and Palworld may have led to internal pivots, especially following high-profile legal settlements involving similar intellectual properties.

Shift in Focus

Internal strategy at Tencent may also be a contributing factor to the shutdown. The company is currently prioritizing other pet-collection titles with more established foundations, such as Roco Kingdom: World, which is scheduled for a major launch in China on March 26, 2026. Roco Kingdom has undergone significantly more testing and appears to have a stronger market position than Kewlbiverse did during its brief testing window. For now, fans of the project are left without closure, as Tencent has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the future of the Faeby and the world of Kewlbiverse.
