Rockstar North Office Hit By Fire After Boiler Explosion

Earlier this morning, the local fire brigade had been called to the offices of Rockstar North following an explosion at their Edinburgh office.

As per reports made by local publications in the area and reiterated by the Scottish newspaper The Herald, around seven Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) vehicles were sent to the scene, after the alarm was raised just after 5am.

Firefighters worked to secure the “structural damage” to a commercial building, a spokesperson said with the crew departing the premises after 3 hours once the area was deemed safe. Thankfully there were no reported casualties following the incident.

Following the earlier incident, Rockstar Games had also given a confirmation to that the Edinburgh studio is “Open and Operational” following the incident with the following statement being made:

“Many thanks to those that reached out with concern, and also to the police and fire crews who were on scene quickly to assess the situation – please know that everyone is well and our studio remains open and operational.”

Rockstar North is famously known for being the developer of Grand Theft Auto series with the 6th entry on its way. The upcoming blockbuster had been delayed twice and is set to launch later this year at November 2026.
