Gran Turismo 7 Makes History By Adding First Chinese Car In The Game

Gran Turismo 7 has officially reached a historic milestone with its January 2026 update, version 1.67, by introducing the first-ever Chinese vehicle to the long-running racing simulation series. The record-breaking Xiaomi SU7 Ultra leads the new update, signaling a major shift in the global automotive landscape as Chinese manufacturers gain recognition in the world’s most prestigious racing titles. While the franchise has featured cars manufactured in China before, such as the Polestar 5, the SU7 Ultra marks the debut of a domestic Chinese brand within the game’s official car roster.

Meet the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is an all-electric performance sedan that has already made waves in the real world by setting a blistering lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. In its Ultra specification, the vehicle features a tri-motor setup that produces a staggering 1,525 horsepower, allowing for a 0–60 mph time of under two seconds and a top speed of approximately 217 mph. Its inclusion in Gran Turismo 7 is the result of a strategic partnership between Polyphony Digital and Xiaomi Automotive first teased at the Gran Turismo World Series in mid-2025. This collaboration is also expected to produce a unique Vision Gran Turismo concept car in the future.

Other Additions in Update 1.67

The historic debut of the SU7 Ultra is accompanied by two other track-focused machines and several new features for players to explore. Beyond the headline-grabbing EV, the update includes the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), which joins the Gr.3 field to provide fresh competition for high-level esports events. Additionally, the Hyundai Elantra N TC arrives as the first official TCR-class car in the game, expected to join the Gr.4 category alongside a new Hyundai N collection in the GT Cafe. World Circuits receives three new events at the Nürburgring, Spa-Francorchamps, and Mount Panorama, while a new Scapes location called California Roadsides provides a scenic backdrop for photographers.
