Teresa Palmer Cast as Sif in Prime Video’s God of War Series

Teresa Palmer, the star of A Discovery of Witches and Warm Bodies, has officially joined the cast of Prime Video’s live-action God of War series. According to reports from Deadline and other major outlets on January 16, 2026, Palmer will portray Phoebe/Sif, the Norse goddess of the earth and harvest, and the wife of Thor. This marks the second major casting for the highly anticipated adaptation, following the recent announcement that Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) will lead the series as Kratos. Interestingly, Hurst previously voiced Thor in the God of War Ragnarök video game, making this a unique reunion of sorts within the franchise’s lore.

Adapting the Norse Saga

The series, which has received a two-season order, is set to adapt the acclaimed Norse mythology era of the franchise, beginning with the 2018 game. The story follows Kratos and his young son, Atreus, as they journey to the highest peak in the Nine Realms to scatter the ashes of Kratos’ late wife, Faye. While Sif does not appear in the 2018 game, her inclusion suggests that showrunner Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander) plans to expand the narrative early on to include the complex political and family dynamics of Asgard. In the games, Sif is a politically sharp and emotionally complex figure who eventually finds herself caught between her loyalty to the Aesir and the realization of Odin’s cruelty.

Production and Creative Team

Pre-production is currently underway in Vancouver, with filming reportedly scheduled to begin in March 2026. The creative team is led by Moore, who serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. He is working closely with Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog to ensure the series maintains the emotional weight and mythological scale of the source material. The first two episodes are set to be directed by Frederick E.O. Toye, known for his work on Shōgun, The Boys, and Fallout. With Kratos and Sif now cast, fans are eagerly awaiting news on who will play Atreus and the formidable Thor.
