Taiwan No.1! Top Taiwanese Indie Games Stand Shoulder to Shoulder with Global Indie Hits

Taiwanese indie game developers have delivered outstanding results in recent years, with many titles earning strong praise from gamers worldwide. Participation from top local studios has been particularly enthusiastic. Highlights include the wuxia-themed life-simulation RPG Legend of Mortal, developed by Obb Studio Inc. and humorously dubbed for having “the ugliest protagonist in gaming history”; the dark fantasy, pixel-art boss-rush action game Rubinite developed by CupDog Games with support from GameWorks Ventures Co., Ltd.; Word Game, created by Team9, an award-winning title internationally that recently launched its Japanese version, will be bringing its new title, Word Game World; and the emotionally moving OPUS series — all playable on-site.

The international exhibitor lineup is equally impressive. Japan’s retail giant PARCO makes its debut through its cross-industry game publishing label PARCO GAMES, while Top Game Creators Academy, a next-generation creator development program guided by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA), also joins the show for the first time.

Pocketpair will showcase the phenomenon hit Palworld along with five newly published titles. PLAYISM will present the locally developed Homura Hime, while SHUEISHA GAMES will bring in many anticipated titles, including BAKUDO and ANTHEM#9, and more, while debuting a major new title at the event. Additional highlights include the viral roguelike action hit Vampire Survivors by UK-based developer poncle; the PvE top-down extraction shooter Escape from Duckov, developed by Team Soda under Bilibili; and the ARG-driven horror title No Players Online by Belgium’s Beeswax Games — a game that continues to spark discussion among Western communities as gamers unravel its mysteries.

Global Partners Bring 40 Indie Titles — Taipei Game Show Supports Local Students with Free Exhibition Opportunities

The organizer emphasized that Indie House has grown into a platform that reflects the global indie game industry as a whole. In addition to group participation from Asia’s two leading indie showcases — BitSummit (Japan) and Busan Indie Connect Festival (Korea) — the initiative, Global Indie Game Pavilion, welcomes seven strategic partners from six countries, including SXSW Sydney, XP GAME SUMMIT, Montréal International Game Summit, Lithuanian Game Developers Association, BCN GAME FEST, gamescom latam, and VGChile. Together, they bring 40 representative indie titles from their respective regions, allowing gamers to experience diverse creative visions while offering developers valuable opportunities to connect with international organizations and expand globally.

Taipei Game Show continues its strong support for both local and global developers. The Indie Game Award 2026 Winner’s Pavilion will allow gamers to experience the best indie titles selected by an international jury. Meanwhile, the newly introduced Student Area has attracted teams from eight universities and colleges across Taiwan, highlighting the strong participation of emerging local talent. The student’s booths are provided free of charge by the organizer, aiming to increase exposure for outstanding projects, cultivate emerging talent, and inject fresh energy into the game development ecosystem.

Smilegate STOVE is participating as the title sponsor of Indie House this year and is operating the STOVE Online Showcase to actively support the global expansion of the indie game ecosystem. The Indie House showcase is further supported by LENOVO and RAZER, providing top-tier equipment to deliver an immersive and high-quality gaming experience for all visitors.
