Among the many eye-catching booths at Philippine Game Dev Expo (PGDX) 2025 held from July 25 to 27, 2025 at SMX Convention Center, one booth pulled both long-time fans and curious newcomers: Gravity. Their booth wasn’t just visually striking with iconic characters that fans from the 2000s would instantly recognize, but it was also emotionally resonant, brimming with undeniable charm.
With a lineup of beloved titles, Gravity appealed to cybercafe-raised gamers from the 2000s while also catching the attention of the younger crowd, proving that games can transcend generations.
Ragnarok Crush
It is impossible not to associate Gravity without one of its famous MMORPG, Ragnarok Online. However, Ragnarok Crush puts a fresh spin on the classic by introducing a hybrid game mechanic.
Players take on monster waves using a three-puzzle system with RPG elements, all while encountering iconic monsters and characters from the RO universe. It’s approachable, bite-sized and oddly satisfying, ideal for both old-school fans and newcomers who prefer to play games on mobile.

Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis
Meanwhile, Ragnarok Landverse: Genesis is another Ragnarok game that merges the traditional Ragnarok Online (RO) theme on a new server, crafting a world where players can trade, fight, and earn. It allows players to relive the RO experience while offering a play-to-earn setup that allows real-world rewards.
It’s clear that Gravity gives players a chance to explore Ragnarok in any form, no matter what your starting point is.

Gunbound
For those who remember going to cybercafes after school, Gunbound delivered a welcome blast from the past as one of the games being showcased in Gravity’s booth. This turn-based artillery multiplayer game made its return with a new server, combining players from Southeast Asia and Latin America with reduced latency. This makes PvP battles smoother and more accessible while maintaining their quirky charm. This tactical gem recalls an era when the meaning of “fun” didn’t require hours of grinding. Just quick thinking, some math, and a little wind.

Dragonica Origins
Rounding out the lineup at Gravity booth is Dragonica Origins. This side-scrolling MMORPG taps into the spirit of the old games with visuals from the classics and with a better server, striking a balance between familiar movement and fresh energy. This offers both charm and performance in one neat package.

Inside the Booth: Bridging Nostalgia and Modern Play
During the event, I got the chance to speak with Paul, Business Development Executive from Gravity Game Hub in Singapore, and Jung, Marketing and Project Management from Gravity HQ in Seoul. According to them, Gravity wants old gamers to feel less stress in contrast to the recent trend. “When they try to engage with a new game, there are a lot of things to learn due to the complexity of the game features, wherein games like Gunbound and Dragonica, these games are very straightforward to play with just a few minutes of tutorial. Our expectation for releasing these games is to bring back old gamers into our market and to enjoy the games that they loved to play back in the day.”
In their third year participating in PGDX, Gravity is delighted to see passionate gamers from the Philippines, especially those who still remember the old games like Gunbound, make their way to the booth to play. According to Jung, “We really like the facial expressions when people enter our booth. They are quite excited and curious. Gravity may not be as famous in the Philippines, unlike in Korea or other regions, but it’s very nice to see people get to know Gravity and what kind of games we can present to them.”

Bridging Generations, Closing Gaps
By showcasing these iconic games from years ago, bringing it in an event like PGDX shows Gravity’s desire to reconnect past and present gamers. The booth crafted that moment where parents who once played some of these games could now share them with their teens, turning nostalgia into connection.
As someone who grew up hearing the Prontera theme echo through cybercafés, seeing titles like Gunbound and Ragnarok at Gravity’s booth felt like time travel with better graphics. I didn’t expect to be hit with so much nostalgia on my first PGDX, but playing these games again at their booth, Gravity had me really excited for what they are planning next.
Gravity’s presence at PGDX 2025 wasn’t just a throwback. It was a reminder that our love for games doesn’t need to be locked in one era. With a mix of new technology and familiar magic, the company tells us that whether you’re a casual gamer or a hardcore one, there’s always something for everyone.
So, whether you’re an OG RO player, casual mobile gamer, or someone drawn to some quirky games to feed your weird little soul, Gravity’s got something brewing, and I’m here for it. If Gravity’s booth at PGDX 2025 taught us anything, it’s that some legacies never fade; they respawn.
