Google Search Browser has a Mini Pokémon Game

Google has introduced a captivating Easter egg in its mobile search, allowing users to catch all 151 original Pokémon directly through the search engine. To embark on this digital adventure, follow these steps:

  1. Use a Mobile Device: Ensure you’re on an iOS or Android device, as this feature is exclusive to mobile platforms.
  2. Log into Your Google Account: This ensures your Pokémon-catching progress is saved.
  3. Search for a Pokémon: Type the name of any of the original 151 Pokémon into Google Search. For example, enter “Pikachu.”
  4. Catch the Pokémon: A Poké Ball icon will appear at the bottom right corner of the screen. Tap it to initiate the catching animation and add the Pokémon to your digital Pokédex.

Progressing Through Your Pokédex

As you continue searching and catching different Pokémon, your Pokédex will fill up. Google provides silhouette hints of yet-to-be-caught Pokémon, reminiscent of the classic “Who’s that Pokémon?” segments from the TV series.

Capturing Legendary and Mythical Pokémon

Certain Pokémon, such as Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, and Mew, require Master Balls to catch. You can earn Master Balls by reaching specific milestones:

  • 5 Pokémon Caught: First Master Ball
  • 20 Pokémon Caught: Second Master Ball
  • 50 Pokémon Caught: Third Master Ball
  • 100 Pokémon Caught: Fourth Master Ball
  • 150 Pokémon Caught: Fifth Master Ball

These special Pokémon must be caught in the following sequence:

  1. Articuno
  2. Zapdos
  3. Moltres
  4. Mewtwo
  5. Mew

Tips for an Optimal Experience

  • Be Specific in Your Searches: For Pokémon with common names, add “Pokémon” to your search query. For example, search for “Ditto Pokémon” to ensure the Poké Ball icon appears.
  • Stay Logged In: Always ensure you’re logged into your Google account to save and track your progress.
  • Utilize the Official Pokédex: Refer to the official Pokémon website’s Pokédex for a comprehensive list of the original 151 Pokémon to guide your searches.

This interactive feature offers a nostalgic and engaging experience for both longtime fans and newcomers. So, grab your mobile device and start your journey to catch ’em all!
