About “Metal Slug: Code J”
“Metal Slug: Code J” is a mobile game adaptation of the popular arcade shooter franchise we all grew up with. The game will stay true to the franchise’s side-scrolling action with some major upgrades. The graphics are now 3D with visual aesthetics now modernized. “Metal Slug: Code J” will play just like its origins but with some new features added in the mix including character skills like double jumping to get to hard-to-reach areas, and using certain items and tools. Additionally, the game will feature a Metroidvania-style map layout with numerous layers and various routes.
Alpha Test Details
From what we know right now, the official name of the game would be “Metal Slug: Awakening,” but the devs seem to be still using the “Code J” placeholder name for some reason. There are 2 phases in this testing:
- Phase 1: Available to play on July 21st
- Phase 2: Available to play on July 26th
The Alpha test will limit players. Each phase will only accept 2000 players. Once the player base reaches 2000, the game will be closed for latecomers and no longer take new users. Both phases will have the same content so just pick one.

Availability
The Alpha Test phase will only be available in the Philippines for Android users. The recommended mobile phone specs are at least 4GB RAM and 3GB of ROM. The developers will gather feedback and check out the game for any performance issues and bugs during the alpha. To pre-register and learn more about “Metal Slug: Code J,” visit the game’s official Facebook page. Sign-ups will be available until July 18 so better get to it!
