Sword Art Online Variant Showdown Is Relaunching After More Than A Year Of Maintenance

Bandai Namco has officially announced the re-launch of their Sword Art Online-based MMORPG, Sword Art Online Variant Showdown, following an extensive maintenance period of over a year. Originally launched on November 22, 2022, the game was taken offline on September 28, 2023, to address critical issues, including bugs and system instabilities.

Why the Extended Maintenance?

Sword Art Online Variant Showdown faced widespread technical issues shortly after its initial release. These included problems with gameplay mechanics, gacha systems, and real-time PvP battles. The development team initiated an extended maintenance period to overhaul the game’s core systems and ensure a smoother, bug-free experience.

Initially scheduled to return in summer 2024, the game’s re-launch is now confirmed to happen “very soon,” according to announcements on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube.

What’s New in the Re-Release?

The updated version of Sword Art Online Variant Showdown introduces several new features and improvements, including:
