NetEase Games and developer Naked Rain have dropped a seven-minute gameplay trailer for their urban open-world RPG ANANTA, giving fans their clearest look yet at how life, combat, and exploration will work in this free-to-play title.
Living City, Unexpected Moments
The trailer showcases a city that feels alive: neon alleys, bustling business districts, mid-level rooftops, hidden corners. Interaction abounds—from pets to NPCs chatting, even to surprising moments like gang clashes or choosing to ignore traffic laws. The more you explore, the more the city responds. It’s not just scenery—it’s full of stories, surprises, and small choices that ripple outward.

Combat, Creativity, and Vertical Freedom
Combat appears dynamic and improvisational. You’ll use environmental objects (trash bins, street signs, etc.), disarm enemies, switch up weapons mid-battle, dodge, block—and even use terrain for tactical advantages. Plus, you can traverse in unusual ways: swinging across rooftops, using vehicles like buses and helicopters, moving across different vertical layers of the city (ground, mid-floors, rooftops).

Roles, Identity & City Life
One of the intriguing parts is how players can embody different roles: from detective or hacker, to streamer or high-roller. The trailer shows how switching roles changes interactions and story possibilities. Also, the presence of interactive hotspots—places where you might pet a stray cat, snoop phones or take on side encounters—adds flavor to the experience. It’s not just combat and missions, but everyday moments.

Platforms & Release Status
ANANTA is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android. The gameplay will also be shown to attendees at Tokyo Game Show 2025. However, there is no official release date yet. Stay tuned for updates.
