In a bold move to prioritize player skill and immersion, NCSoft has announced that Aion 2, its upcoming MMORPG, will forgo any form of auto-combat. This decision marks a significant departure from the original Aion and many modern mobile MMORPGs, which often rely on automated systems for combat and progression.
During a recent developer livestream, the team emphasized their commitment to delivering a more engaging and hands-on experience. The game’s combat system will feature a “rear hit detection” mechanic, encouraging strategic positioning and active participation in battles. This approach aims to provide a more satisfying and skill-based gameplay experience, aligning with the expectations of dedicated MMORPG players.
Designed for PC with Cross-Platform Support
While Aion 2 will be available on both PC and mobile platforms, the developers have clarified that the game is being developed primarily for PC. The mobile version is intended to complement the PC experience, allowing players to engage with the game on the go without compromising the core gameplay mechanics. This strategy ensures that the game’s depth and complexity are preserved, catering to the preferences of traditional MMORPG enthusiasts.

Focus Group Test Scheduled for Late June
NCSoft has announced a Focus Group Test (FGT) for Aion 2, scheduled for June 28 and 29, 2025. Interested players can apply for participation until June 12, 2025. Please note that applicants must possess a South Korean phone number to be eligible. Selected participants will have the opportunity to experience the game’s features firsthand and provide valuable feedback to the development team.
