Electronic Arts have declared that both Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile will be discontinued. Apex Legends Mobile will be taken down on May 1st, 2023, and will no longer be accessible after that. However, the date for the shutdown of Battlefield Mobile was not specified, but EA confirmed that it will no longer continue its development. Additionally, the studio responsible for Battlefield Mobile, Industrial Toys, will also be closed.
Why Is “Apex Legends Mobile” Shutting Down?
In a statement, EA explained that despite the good start of “Apex Legends Mobile,” the ongoing experience was not satisfying the players’ expectations. After working with the development partner for months, the decision was made to discontinue the mobile game. The same goes for Battlefield Mobile, as EA decided to change direction to fulfill their vision for the franchise and meet the players’ standards, given the evolution of the industry.
The deteriorating quality of “Apex Legends Mobile’s” updates, according to Respawn Entertainment, was the cause of the game’s closure. EA made the declaration when announcing its financial results for the third fiscal quarter that ended on December 31. The decision will most likely have an impact on their partner developers, Lightspeed Studio, a subsidiary of the Chinese tech giant, Tencent. Meanwhile, it is currently unclear how many people will lose their jobs with the closure of Industrial Toys which have been developing “Battlefield Mobile.” Sadly, it is suspected to be a lot.

“At Respawn, we aim to provide players with games that are consistently outstanding. Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence. It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game. Although disappointing, we are proud of the game we launched, are grateful for the support of the Apex Legends community, and are confident that this is the right decision for players.”

When Will The Game Shut Down?
Respawn will stop allowing players to make any in-game purchases with real money starting January 31, in addition to taking the app down from app stores. Players may use their current Syndicate Gold during this time to continue enjoying the full game. “Apex Legends Mobile” will stop operating worldwide on May 1, 2023, Pacific time, and it will no longer be playable.
