Square Enix has announced that FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS (FFBE) will officially shut down in Japan on October 31, 2025, marking the end of its decade-long run. The news comes a year after the global version ended service on October 30, 2024, concluding an 8-year journey.
A Decade of Brave Exvius
First launched in Japan in 2015 and globally on June 30, 2016, FFBE became one of Square Enix’s most successful mobile RPGs. Known for its retro pixel art, CG character animations, and turn-based combat, the game took players to the world of Lapis, where an original story unfolded alongside guest appearances from classic FINAL FANTASY heroes.
The game offered:
- Strategic turn-based battles
- Dungeon exploration
- PvP arenas
- Seasonal story arcs, culminating in five major seasons

Grand Finale Campaign and Epilogue
With the shutdown announcement, in-app purchases have been disabled, and Square Enix has launched a Grand Finale Campaign. Players can experience:
- The final chapter of Season 5
- A special epilogue scenario
- Limited-time in-game events leading up to the end-of-service
Square Enix expressed gratitude in its official X statement:
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has played FFBE for so many years since its release in 2015.”
Memorial Edition After Shutdown
As a parting gift, players will receive a Memorial Edition on October 31, 2025, after the servers go offline. This offline version will allow fans to view their collected units and Vision Cards, preserving memories of their adventures in Lapis even after service ends.
Farewell to a Beloved Mobile RPG
The closure marks the end of an era for one of Square Enix’s most iconic mobile titles. With its mix of nostalgia, strategy, and storytelling, FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS built a loyal fanbase worldwide. While the servers will soon go silent, the memories of its decade-long journey will live on with the community.
