Fans of the classic RPG Final Fantasy IX are eagerly awaiting official news about a potential remake, and their impatience has been fueled again by a new leak. This time, the leak emerged from the Epic Games Store database via a third-party website, EpicDB, which is similar to SteamDB.
The confidential data on EpicDB revealed several unannounced Square Enix projects, identified by codenames. Among these, a game believed to be Final Fantasy IX Remake, codenamed “momo,” stood out. The data also hinted at several DLC contents registered since early 2023, including a ‘Tetra Master Starter Pack,’ ‘Thief’s Knives,’ and ‘Thunderbolt Armlet,’ all pointing to elements from the original game.

A ‘Cuisine Set’ was also mentioned, likely related to Quina, a character known for their culinary skills. This has led to speculation about the inclusion of new mini-games or cooking systems in the remake.

This isn’t the first hint of a Final Fantasy IX Remake; similar rumors have circulated since the Nvidia GeForce NOW data leak in 2021, many of which have since been confirmed. Coupled with Square Enix’s recent marketing activities, including collaborations with mobile games and an animated series by Cyber Group Studios, it seems increasingly likely that an official announcement is on the horizon.
