Nintendo, together with developers Intelligent Systems and DeNA, has released Fire Emblem Shadows, a new mobile spin-off that blends real-time tactics with social deduction gameplay. The game is now available on iOS and Android in over 70 countries.
In Shadows, each battle features a party of three allies — but one of them is secretly a Disciple of Shadow, working against your team. Players take on roles as either disciples of light or shadow, and after combat, they vote on who they suspect the traitor is. The outcome of that vote influences how the next battle evolves, making each decision impactful in the ongoing labyrinth journey.

The gameplay merges tactical combat with deception. You’ll prepare your weapons and magic, position your team, and use strategy in real time — but also keep your eyes open for betrayal. Shadows features two intertwining storylines: one from the perspective of light, the other from shadow. Through multiplayer rounds and narrative paths, players uncover the truth behind the conflict between goddesses of light and shadow.

Nintendo describes the title as “free-to-start,” with optional in-game purchases. Given the twist on genre and the classic Fire Emblem branding, Shadows is a bold departure from the usual tactical RPG formula.
