MiHoYo, the renowned developer behind hits like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, has announced the successful ignition of a TOKAMAK nuclear fusion reactor. This state-of-the-art project is a collaboration with the Shanghai-based start-up Energy Singularity.
Launched on June 18, 2024, this high-temperature superconducting TOKAMAK reactor aims to replicate the sun’s fusion reactions to produce energy. Unlike traditional nuclear reactors, which split atoms, fusion reactors merge them, generating immense energy with steam as the only byproduct. This innovative approach has the potential to revolutionize power generation by providing a virtually limitless and environmentally friendly energy source.
However, it is important to note that the TOKAMAK nuclear fusion reactor is not currently commercially viable. While the technology shows great promise, further advancements and research are needed to make it a practical solution for widespread energy production.
Through significant investments, initially made in early 2022 alongside NIO Capital, MiHoYo has supported Energy Singularity’s mission to commercialize fusion energy.
