Genshin Impact’s developer, HoYoverse, is embarking on a new venture that draws inspiration from the Pokémon series. The company has announced recruitment for a game within the Honkai IP, focusing on collecting, training, and evolving creatures termed “Destined Spirits” in a serene seaside setting.

Innovative Gameplay Mechanics
Unlike traditional turn-based combat, this upcoming title will feature auto chess battles, a system where strategic positioning and synergy determine the outcome. This approach aligns with popular games like Hearthstone’s Battlegrounds and Riot’s Teamfight Tactics.

HoYoverse’s Foray into Monster-Battling
This isn’t HoYoverse’s first exploration into monster-battling mechanics. Previous events in their games, such as beetle battles and trading card games in Genshin Impact, and the Aetherium Wars event in Honkai: Star Rail, have showcased similar features.

Development and Recruitment
The project is in its early stages, with HoYoverse actively recruiting for roles in character concept design, rigging, mission and level planning, among others. This indicates a comprehensive development approach to bring this new concept to life.

Distinct Identity Amidst Inspirations
While the game draws inspiration from Pokémon, it aims to establish a unique identity. The integration of auto chess battles and the urban fantasy setting are expected to differentiate it from existing titles, offering players a fresh experience within the creature-collection genre.
