“God Of War” Live-Action Series Announced By Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime Video has announced that it will be making a live-action TV series for the massive hit game, “God Of War.” It was reported back in March 2022 that the streaming service was in talks with Sony about the project and now has been confirmed to be true with executive producer Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, and Rafe Judkins will lead the project.

The announcement was just a simple Tweet but it practically set the internet ablaze in just a few hours. As reported by Hollywood Reporter, Judkins who has worked on “The Wheel Of Time” will be the showrunner while Fergus and Ostby who both worked on “The Expanse” will write for the show and will be executive producers.

It was also reported that the live-action TV adaptation will be covering the events of 2018’s “God Of War” skipping the events of the first 3 major installments and jumping straight to when Kratos, the protagonist of the games, self-exiled himself to the land of the Norse Gods after his blood-soaked quest for revenge in ancient Greece.

After the death of her beloved wife, Kratos, and his estranged son, Atreus takes on a dangerous journey to fulfill her last wish and spread her ashes from the highest peak in the land. Kratos will soon realize that this quest is no mere quest as his past has come back to haunt him and the Norse Gods as well as monsters are seeking him and Atreus. With the fate of the world hanging in their hands, Kratos must face danger once again, form a bond with his son, and confront his past.

“God of War is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers as much with its expansive and immersive worlds as its rich storytelling. We are honored to share in the adventure of exploring the God of War mythology in such a momentous way with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Santa Monica Studio.” – Vernon Sanders, Amazon Studios’ head of TV production

“God Of War” creative director Cory Barlog stated that “it will be a while” before we hear more about the project. We’ll be sure to update more about Amazon’s “God Of War” live-action series once additional info comes out.
