GunZ: The Duel Announces Second Global Playtest

Masangsoft announced that GunZ: The Duel, the revival of the iconic third-person shooter, will host its second global playtest from December 11 to 14 (PST) on Steam.

Following the success of the first closed test earlier this year, the upcoming playtest introduces major gameplay improvements, system optimizations, and quality-of-life updates based on community feedback gathered from Medal.tv clips, Discord discussions, and in-game reports.

Major Updates and Improvements

The GunZ team has shared a comprehensive update log highlighting the following key improvements:

Technical Enhancements: Improved tick rate, added adjustable FOV slider, anti-lead configuration (0–100), and smoother network performance.
Combat & UI Updates: Multi-kill indicators and sounds, toggleable enemy outlines, HP bar color adjustments, and removal of camera lock during wall running.
System & Quality of Life: Relaxed room start conditions (matches can begin without all players ready), improved AFK detection, and better chat and shop interfaces.
Bug Fixes: Resolved HP/AP display errors, scoreboard inconsistencies, and map clipping issues.
Additional Tweaks: Added combat UI centering option, 20 ms mouse wheel delay, practice weapons, and ring equipment UI relocation.

The upcoming playtest will focus on overall gameplay refinements based on player feedback gathered from the first closed test, with major adjustments made to the game’s core mechanics.

“This second playtest reflects months of direct community feedback,” said PD Max, Game Director of GunZ: The Duel. “From combat systems to UX and UI, we’ve refined GunZ’s unique mechanics to meet modern standards, ensuring that both longtime fans and new players can fully experience the game’s distinctive thrill.”

Playtest Schedule

The Second Global Playtest will be available on Steam from:
December 11, 2025 (Thu) at 6:00 PM – December 14, 2025 (Sun) at 6:00 PM (PST)

Once registration opens, players can request access through the Steam store page, and participation will be granted upon approval. A limited number of playtest keys will also be sent out via email to newsletter subscribers, selected randomly.
