“Honkai: Star Rail,” the newly-released turn-based RPG by HoYoverse, has taken the gaming industry by storm with its massive global popularity. However, the game’s massive download surge during its first release was mistakenly identified as a scam app by the Chinese Anti-Fraud Center, causing concern among the authorities.
The authorities’ suspicion may have been due to the game’s enormous downloads since its pre-download, attracting the attention of the Chinese authorities, and leading to players receiving messages and phone calls alerting them that they downloaded fraudulent software. The players were asked to delete the app immediately.
Despite the alert from the authorities, players have been able to enjoy the game without any problems. The popularity of “Honkai: Star Rail” has shocked the gaming industry, with the game rising to first place in the general list in more than 140 countries on the day of pre-download. It even dethroned “Genshin Impact” as the most downloaded game in the first week of launch.

Although some players experienced delays in their downloads, the game’s core users have already flooded in, and more players are expected to join in the future. The game’s popularity has put pressure on HoYoverse to deliver significant updates along the way.
