Kojima Productions Drops Eerie Teaser for New Horror Game OD

During its 10th anniversary livestream event “Beyond the Strand,” Kojima Productions unveiled a chilling new trailer for OD, a horror game published by Xbox Game Studios, developed in collaboration with director Jordan Peele. The game was first teased in 2023; this new teaser gives a clearer look at its atmosphere and gameplay.

What We Know from the Knock Teaser

The latest trailer, titled “Knock,” reveals that OD will be played from a first-person perspective. It features actress Sophia Lillis performing a candle-lit supernatural ritual in a dim, eerie room. Suspense builds as candles deform and a creature suddenly grabs her from behind. Notably, Kojima emphasized the realistic facial animations in the teaser, powered by Unreal Engine’s Metahuman Creator.

Scenes shown include a red door, a room with 3D-scanned architectural details, and lore text that is heavily redacted. One snippet reads: “Ten years since the [redacted] horror [redacted], [redacted]. The cursed [redacted] have once again [redacted] into the forbidden.” The heavy censorship adds to the mystery.

Collaboration & Statements

Xbox Game Studios boss Phil Spencer and Kojima shared the stage for the reveal. Kojima Productions head stated during the livestream that no one has done something quite like OD before. He also warned that Spencer would be unhappy if too much were revealed too soon—so expect details to be scarce for now.

Status & Release

As of the teaser, OD does not have a confirmed release date. The game remains in a development phase, with many story and gameplay details redacted or kept under wraps. Fans will need to wait for further announcements. Official website: https://www.kojimaproductions.jp/en/OD
