Leon S. Kennedy Brings Action to Resident Evil: Requiem

Capcom has offered new details on Resident Evil: Requiem, confirming the game will use a dual-protagonist structure centered around Leon S. Kennedy and a new character, Grace Ashcroft. According to Director Akifumi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa, the story is unified, but players will alternate between the two characters’ sections as the plot progresses, creating a unique rhythm of tension and release. Leon is portrayed as an older, cooler, and seasoned veteran who is still dealing with the events that started in Raccoon City, while Grace is described as “the biggest scaredy-cat in Resident Evil history.”

Two Styles of Gameplay: Action vs. Horror

The split between the protagonists extends directly into the gameplay experience, with the two styles being nearly equal in playtime. Leon’s chapters will focus on fast-paced, high-octane action, building on the foundation of Resident Evil 4‘s combat with the addition of new actions, martial arts, and melee moves that fit his status as an experienced agent. In contrast, Grace’s sequences will deliver the scarier, more suspenseful survival horror that the franchise is known for. The developers intentionally designed this contrast, which they compared to “jumping into a cold bath after sitting in a hot sauna,” to keep players constantly on edge.

New Elements for the Seasoned Agent

In a surprising addition, the game’s trailer revealed Leon behind the wheel of a custom Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. This personal vehicle was created in collaboration with Porsche to fit within the game’s world. The developers noted that Leon, after decades of fighting bioterror, deserves to have a stylish, luxurious car. Resident Evil: Requiem is set to launch on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
