Mongil Star Dive Faces Likely Delay to 2026

Netmarble appears to have delayed the highly anticipated action RPG, Mongil: Star Dive, from its original December schedule. Recent updates on the App Store now list a tentative release date of March 2026. This extra time is likely being used to polish the game following feedback from the most recent closed beta test. Developed as a successor to the popular Monster Taming franchise, the studio is aiming for a high-quality global launch across mobile devices, PC, and PlayStation 5.

Innovative Mascot and Combat Systems

One of the most unique aspects of the game is its focus on the mascot character, Yaongi. Far from being just a cute face, Yaongi is a central part of the gameplay and is used to tame monsters encountered throughout the journey. The combat system has also been designed with a “tag” mechanic, allowing players to swap between characters to perform powerful team combos. During boss battles, players can trigger specific modes like “groggy” and “burst” to deal massive damage, making the action feel dynamic and strategic.

A Diverse World and Global Reach

At launch, Mongil: Star Dive is expected to feature a roster of around 20 characters and a wide variety of environments. The world design blends classic fantasy elements with unique settings like the Joseon era and cyberpunk influences. While Netmarble is focusing heavily on the Korean and Japanese markets, the game is planned for a simultaneous global release. Fans can look forward to exploring these beautifully crafted worlds when the game finally debuts in early 2026.
