Monster Hunter Outlanders: All Confirmed Characters & Buddies You Should Know

In Monster Hunter Outlanders, adventurers and companions (buddies) play a big role. They have unique weapons, classes, and skills, and choosing the right squad is vital for tackling hunts. Below are all the confirmed characters and buddies as of now.

Adventurers You Can Bring Into Battle

  • Raya (Disruptor, Dual Blades)
A nomadic fighter inspired by the Kulu-Ya-Ku, Raya uses dual blades to disrupt monsters. Her outfit features feathered and beaded elements, and her palette draws from the fire-wyvern’s design.
  • Madelyn (Support, Bow)
She wields a bow and leans into support roles. Her design echoes the Pukei-Pukei bird wyvern—think vibrant colors, poison vials, and feathers.
  • Midori (Assault, Long Sword)
Midori is an aggressive frontline adventurer with long sword skills. Her armor and costume draw heavily from Rathian’s aesthetics—greens, scale-textures, and elegant details.
  • Pepe (Disruptor, Heavy Bowgun)
Pepe carries a heavy bowgun and serves disrupting functions in combat. Her gear channels the Paolumu wyvern, with fur trims, a floaty silhouette, and regal yet practical design.

The main playable character, known as the Fated Adventurer, is customizable and can shift between weapons and classes. Appearance, armor, and gear can be tailored freely.

Buddies: Your Trusty Helpers

Besides adventurers, you can bring along buddies who assist in hunts. Some of the confirmed buddies are:

  • Palico
Those classic cat companions are back, capable of using various weapons and items. They tend to align well with assault-type adventurers.
  • Rutaco
A monkey-like buddy from Aesoland who excels at assisting disruptor-type characters. Rutaco is good with tools and radiantite to help build or fend off threats.
  • Trillan
A feathered buddy skilled in support abilities. Ideal for players using support adventurers, Trillan helps with buffs, healing, or other aid functions.

Classes & How Characters Are Acquired

Adventurers and buddies fall into three main classes:

  • Assault — Heavy damage dealers.
  • Disruptor — Crowd control, weakening enemies, altering battle flow.
  • Support — Healing, boosting, rescuing.

You can earn adventurers by playing the game and completing daily challenges. You can also obtain them through paid options. It isn’t clear yet whether Monster Hunter Outlanders will follow a gacha pull model for characters, or allow direct purchase.
