The Assassin’s Creed franchise, a titan in the world of video games with over 230 million copies sold globally, is officially heading to television. Netflix has confirmed the development of a live-action Assassin’s Creed series, marking the first project in a long-term collaboration with Ubisoft.
And this isn’t just another adaptation. Emmy-nominated talents Roberto Patino (Westworld, DMZ) and David Wiener (Halo, Homecoming) will serve as creators, executive producers, and showrunners, bringing decades of prestige TV experience to the Brotherhood.

What to Expect from the Assassin’s Creed Series
Described as a “high-octane thriller”, the upcoming series will dive deep into the franchise’s signature conflict between the Assassins and the Templars—two shadowy factions locked in a centuries-long battle over humanity’s future.
The show promises to traverse pivotal historical events, mixing action, emotion, and philosophy. Think parkour across rooftops, intense blade battles, and stories rooted in faith, identity, and free will.
But this isn’t just about spectacle. According to Wiener and Patino, at its core, Assassin’s Creed is about the search for meaning — human stories told across time and culture. And yes, expect all the power plays, revenge arcs, and philosophical dilemmas fans know and love.

Ubisoft and Netflix Go All-In
This live-action series has been nearly five years in development, following Netflix’s 2020 deal with Ubisoft to bring the Assassin’s Creed universe to screen. Other executive producers on the project include Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, and Matt O’Toole—many of whom have deep roots within Ubisoft’s creative leadership.
Netflix VP Peter Friedlander shared high praise for the production, calling it an “epic adventure that both honors the franchise and invites a new generation of fans.”
With Castlevania, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and the upcoming Splinter Cell: Deathwatch already under Netflix’s belt, Assassin’s Creed is set to continue the streaming platform’s hot streak of critically acclaimed video game adaptations.
